anywho, i know nobody's immune, and i've been waiting for obama's big time, campaign-ending gaffe. i thought i saw it today with the reuters headline: "Obama admits reference to Auschwitz was wrong".
intrigued, i followed the link, which told me the following:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama admitted on Tuesday he was wrong to say his uncle helped liberate the Nazis' Auschwitz concentration camp after Republicans said Soviet troops freed the camp.
Obama's campaign said the candidate meant to say that his great-uncle, Charlie Payne, had helped liberate a part of the Buchenwald camp, not Auschwitz.
MR. OBAMA, HOW DARE YOU LIE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LIKE THAT?
ADMIT IT!
you were WRONG to say that about auschwitz!

Did the Republicans really just use some guys who used to be our friends but then became our enemies and then weren't really our enemies anymore so we got some other enemies but now maybe they're our enemies again.... did the Republicans really just lean on THOSE guys (the Russians, in case you lost track) to catch Obama in a "lie"???

that whole "he's a terrorist"/obama<->osama thing isn't working, and neither is "the negroes and their crazy pastors will destroy everything we hold as sacred," so my guess is that the right wing is going back to take another page from the ol' 20th-century character assassination playbook.
follow the smear logic, if you can:
A)obama's great-uncle liberated auschwitz.
B)the soviet army liberated auschwitz
THEREFORE:
C)obama's great-uncle was in the soviet army.
D) obama speaks lovingly of his great-uncle.
